Instead of trying to determine what is misinformation or disinformation for the people using UnpressUNPRESS, which is impossible since we will never have access to perfect information, we take a different approach. Our rating system is designed to effectively crowd source what people believe to be effective, accurate and trustworthy information and sources of information in a way that does not devolve into “like” and “dislike.” We balance this with our planned community awareness features, so that perspectives from individual communities do not get drowned out by the opinions of the masses. Finally, the system is structured in such a way as to engage our objective thinking more than our subjective notions of whether or not we like something because it agrees with what we already believe. The result is that what is largely agreed to be misinformation may not be removed, but instead its distribution to other unpress users will be limited.
