With service providers. We may share your information with our service providers that perform functions and provide services on our behalf, including payment services providers who facilitate payments; service providers that host our various blogs and wikis; service providers that help us understand the use of our services; and those that provide fraud detection services.
With advertisers. Advertising revenue enables us to provide our products and services. Advertisers may learn information from your engagement with their ads on or off Unpress. For example, if you click on an external link or ad on our services, that advertiser or website operator might figure out that you came from Unpress, along with other information associated with the ad you clicked, such as characteristics of the audience it was intended to reach and other Unpress-generated identifiers for that ad. They may also collect other personal information from you, such as cookie identifiers, or your IP address.
Third-party content & integrations. We share or disclose your information with your consent or at your direction, such as when you authorize a third-party web client or application to access your account or when you direct us to share your feedback with a business. Similarly, to improve your experience, we work with third-party partners to display their video content on Unpress or to allow cross-platform sharing. When you watch or otherwise interact with content from our video or cross-platform sharing partners, they may receive and process your personal information as described in their privacy policies. For video content, you can adjust your autoplay settings if you prefer that content not to play automatically.
Through our APIs. We use technology like APIs and embeds to make public Unpress information available to websites, apps, and others for their use, for example, displaying Stories on a news website or analyzing what people say on Unpress. We generally make this content available in limited quantities for free and charge licensing fees for large-scale access. We have standard terms that govern how this information can be used, and a compliance program to enforce these terms. But these individuals and companies are not affiliated with Unpress, and their offerings may not reflect updates you make on Unpress. Not withstanding the items below, remember that public content can exist in many other places on the internet, even if you have removed it from Unpress.
We keep your profile information, stories and other content for the duration you generate during the entire life of your account.
We generally keep other any personally identifiable data we collect when you use our products and services for a maximum of 18 months.
Remember public content can exist elsewhere even after you remove it from Unpress. For example, search engines and other third parties may retain copies of your Stories longer, based upon their own privacy policies, even after they are deleted or expire on Unpress. Where you violate our Rules and your account is suspended, we may keep the identifiers you used to create the account (i.e., email address or phone number) indefinitely to prevent repeat policy offenders from creating new accounts.
We may keep certain information longer than our policies specify in order to comply with legal requirements and for safety and security reasons.
How can I control my data?
You can access it, delete it, or change your settings. Basically, you’re the boss.

To protect your privacy and maintain security, we take steps to verify your identity before granting you access to your personal information or complying with a deletion, portability, or other related request. We may, in certain situations, reject your request for access, correction, or portability, for example, we may reject access where you are unable to verify your identity.
Deleting your information
If you follow the instructions here (or for Periscope here), your account will be deactivated. When deactivated, your Unpress account, including your display name, username, and public profile, will no longer be viewable on Unpress.com, Unpress for iOS, and Unpress for Android. For up to 30 days after deactivation it is still possible to restore your Unpress account if it was accidentally or wrongfully deactivated.
Objecting to, Restricting, or Withdrawing your Consent
You can manage your privacy settings and other account features here. If you change your settings it may take some time for your choices to be fully reflected throughout our systems. You may also notice changes in your Unpress experience or limitations in your ability to access certain features depending on the settings you’ve adjusted.

Your Rights and Ours
We provide Unpress to people all over the world and provide many of the same privacy tools and controls to all of our users regardless of where they live. However, your experience may be slightly different than users in other countries to ensure Unpress respects local requirements.
We have specific legal bases to use your information
Unpress has carefully considered the legal reasons it is permitted to collect, use, share and otherwise process your information. And no, we don’t sell your personal information.
We move your data to make Unpress work for you.
Just as you use Unpress to seamlessly participate in global conversations with people in countries all over the world, Unpress must move information across borders and to different countries around the world to support the safe and reliable service you depend on. For example, if you live in Europe and are having a conversation with someone in the United States, information has to move between those countries to provide that experience – it’s what you expect from us.

If your account is suspended, either by us or by you, we retain all of your information indefinitely until your account is deleted.
If your account is deleted, we will delete all of your information, with the exception of the primary identifier used to create your account, i.e. your email address or phone number. We retain this information to prevent repeat offenders from creating new accounts, and to prevent others from creating accounts to impersonate others who may have decided to remove their accounts.

You can update all of your information by editing your profile. There is one exception. You cannot edit the date of birth you entered when you created your account.
Downloading your information
If you wish to download your Story content from Unpress, you can make a request to us via our help form. Note that you will not be able to download your comments at this time.
In order to protect our users privacy, if you make a request to download your stories, we will initiate a process to verify your identity before making your information available. In some situations, we may reject requests for data downloads. i.e. if you are unable to verify your identity.
Deleting your information
You can delete any of the stories that you have published using the delete option under the story options in your profile page.
You can request that your account be deleted through your profile settings. When you initiate an account deletion request, your account will continue to function as normal for up to 72 hours after the request has been made. During this time you can cancel this request, but once 72 hours have passed, your account, including your stories and any comments you have made on the site, will be removed. As mentioned above, the primary identifier used to create your account, i.e. your email address or phone number, will be retained to prevent another account from being created with the same identifier.
Authorized Agent Requests
To submit a request to access, modify or delete someone else’s information, if you are their legally authorized agent, you may contact us via our help form as specified in the How To Contact Unpress section of our Privacy Policy below. We will require you to provide additional information for verification.
Data Handling
The user agreement you accepted when you created an account on Unpress gives us the legal ability to collect, use, share and process your information. That said, we do not sell your personal information.
Global data access and residency
To serve a global audience effectively, and provide a safe, reliable and performant user experience, we must show and move some information to different countries and regions. For example, two people who reside in different countries and are having a conversation. The data from their messages must be visible in each of those countries.
We also use cloud providers and service providers that may be located in different parts of the world. In order to provide acceptable service to different geographies we may need to move or replicate our data into different cloud provider regions. Before we engage with a service partner, we look at their contracts, data residency, privacy and security policies and assess the risks to ensure that you will be protected.
Is Unpress for kids?
Nope, full stop. Unpress is not intended for people under 13. Due to the potential nature and subject matter on our platform, Unpress is not directed to children. If you are under the age of 13, you may not use our services. If we discover that an account is being used by someone under the age of 13, we may suspend the account.
